Program Internship

Program Internship Duration: 3-8 months (Needed during busy season; summer or Christmas break, or both.)

The Program Intern is responsible for planning and executing special events and assisting in other areas of the Program Department. Duties working with various entities on property to organize and conduct special events, working in Desk Attendant, Recreation, and Family Program roles, and providing administrative support in the Program Department. Must be passionate about providing high quality guest service, working with a team of peers, and ensuring high quality programs.

  • Must meet acceptable criminal background check standards
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a valid, USA state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving rules to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles
  • All other duties as assigned

Program Intern Essential Functions:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be fluent in speaking English
  • Must possess current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must possess a high level of organization and is task/detail oriented
  • Facilitate private group activities such as Orientations, Ice Breakers, Night Walks, Family Fun Nights and Archery
  • Desire to plan, market, and execute engaging events for guests such as Fall Fest, Turkey Trot, Holiday Programming, and more.
  • Basic computer office skills like using Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, and Word
  • Comfortable working with computer database and online sign up process, running daily and weekly reports
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of and working with large groups of guests
  • Flexible and high energy as tasks and responsibilities change throughout the summer
  • Work on developing the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith in the children through activities and general interactions and requirements
  • Communicate with all guests in a mature, responsible fashion
  • Promote a cooperative, positive, and flexible atmosphere while working with others in a diverse environment
