If you are looking for an internship which provides audit experience, a focus on analytics at a large company, and requires a great deal of communication with managers, this internship is the one!  If you have any past experiences in the aforementioned areas or have worked in retail, food services, human resources, finance, or Information technology, then you're the type of person we'd like to interview!

This is a PAID Summer Internal Audit position at Cedar Point amusement park for the summer. This is a highly visible Labor Analytics Audit Intern position (within the Internal Audit team) at a large, publicly held company (www.cedarfair.com). This position offers the chance to acquire an exceptional amount of data mining and business experience on Corporate Labor activities within all parks owned by Cedar Fair, while working in a fun and professional environment at one of the world's largest amusement park companies. Internship dates run from early-May to mid-August, but may be adjusted to fit the intern's academic schedule.

NOTE: To apply for this internship, please email you're updated transcript and resume to Dave O'Hare at ohare@cedarpoint.com (in addition to you applying @ Handshake).  Also state your earliest possible starting work date when spring classes end, and latest ending work date before fall classes, along with any vacations scheduled between that time. If you have any questions on this internship, please email Dave O'Hare at ohare@cedarpoint.com.

No analyst or audit experience is necessary for this internship, as training and guidance will be provided during the internship. The Labor Analytics Audit Intern should have a great desire for data mining and audit activities, must be highly motivated, and should be able to work professionally with and without supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a plus, as you'll interact with top management on a regular basis.

The Labor Analytics Audit Intern must be willing to work approximately 40 hours per week, with varying daily work schedules, and possible weekend days. Candidates should be an Accounting, Information Systems, or other data-focused major in their sophomore year or above, have a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and have completed a basic accounting course prior to the internship.

Assignments include data mining within our systems, pattern recognition within these systems, potential identification of problematic activity in the park under real life settings, sending out weekly reporting to managers to discuss data mining results, ad-hoc meetings, plus many other projects!  Since this is a newer position at Cedar Fair, you'll have to ability to continue to mold and fine tune procedures to be used in the future!

Per prior auditors, these are some resume bullets included after performing this position:
  • Building models, fueled by data extracted out of both internal systems and external system such as Equifax.
  • Maintaining models allowing data to be quickly organized and reported to facilitate timely decision making.
  • Researching each state that Cedar Fair operates in and matrixing laws across states to identify differences.
  • Dashboarding data extracted to make data more digestible for operators.
  • Building templates to create consistent and systematic reporting for compliance.
  • Communicating results to department managers, Human Resources, and Internal Audit.
  • Reducing compliance risk and other exposures by identifying previously unknown problems.
  • Collaborating with park teams on special projects, including ERM and/or Sarbanes Oxley audits.

This intern position will be paid $12.50 per hour. Since you'll be employed at a park owned by "America's Largest Thrill Ride" company, you'll also have the opportunity to use the amusement and water park attractions for free. On-site housing is available to Cedar Point interns at a minimum daily rate ($10 per day). The parks also offer an employee cafeteria, free or discounted park tickets, coed employee activities, and much, much more!
