Paid Internship, Minnesota Zoo: Field Conservation Undergraduate Research Assistant– Turtles & Mussels
This is a PAID internship placement. The wage is $10.00 per hour.
From the cooperative breeding programs and conservation action campaigns we lead, to the restoration of local wildlife and green practices on site, conservation is at the heart of everything at the Minnesota Zoo. The engine of the Zoo’s conservation work is its Conservation and Field Biology Research team. These scientists work locally, regionally, and internationally to lead project that address a wide range of threats to endangered species and their natural habitats.
The Field Conservation Research Assistant Intern – Turtles & Mussels assists daily operations of the Minnesota Zoo’s Conservation Programs with particular emphasis on Minnesota’s threatened and endangered species of turtles and mussels. Interns will support field research efforts, help with the collection and management of field data, perform data entry tasks, assist in the management of tools and materials, and other related tasks.
Field Conservation Undergraduate Research Assistant Internship – Turtles & Mussels: Internship Working Conditions
· Schedule
o 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
o Monday through Friday
o Wednesday, May 20, 2020 start date; end date TBD, but in mid-to-late August
· Location
o Outdoors in the field; indoors in an office setting
· Activity Level
o Medium to high levels of physical activity required, including standing for long periods, lifting and/or carrying objects up to 25 pounds, working outdoors in potentially inclement weather, and traversing uneven and wet/boggy ground
Interns in this placement do NOT participate in animal husbandry assignments with the Zoo’s exotic animal collection.
