Rare Plant Monitoring & Native Seed Collection Seasonal

JOB OVERVIEW 
Devote your next botanical experience adventuring through pristine Conservation District sites holding native flora treasures. Spend the summer and fall supporting our experienced Plant Ecologist providing assistance in monitoring the status of rare plant species as well as collecting and processing native seed from District sites. Enhance your leadership and communication skills in working with our volunteers on projects. Further, expand your knowledge in the field of ecology by possibly participating in plant surveys, quantitative plant community monitoring, assisting on controlled burns, etc. as well as learning about data entry and analysis.   
  
What are we looking for? An applicant with some knowledge in Midwestern native plant communities, and native plant identification and terminology skills preferred. Additionally, in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree relating to the field of biology or natural resources; or possess equivalent education and experience working in the field of biology or natural resources. You must be flexible as it may require some weekend work periodically.
 
For your safety and those around you, we require applicants to have a current, valid driver’s license and complete a pre-employment drug screening due to driving being essential to the job as well as be able to regularly lift up to 50lbs.
 
WORK PERIOD: 22.5 weeks starting May 2020. 40 hour work week typically Monday through Friday, but may be required to work periodically on the weekends.
