Foster Care Case Management Specialist I - II

Pay Grade: 4/5
Salary: $35,568- $45,614.02 annually / $36,058.47 - $51,087.70 annually
(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Case Management Specialist reports to the Manager of Case Management, but enjoys a high degree of autonomy in carrying out foster care and adoption case management services as required by contract, licensing, funding body and accreditation requirements. Using advanced knowledge in the area of child welfare, the Case Management Specialist exercises discretion and independent judgment in making decisions on the overall management and delivery of services to children on their caseload, aimed at achieving safety and permanency. This position will coordinate and facilitate activities within the Family Support Team context, working towards moving the child to a permanent home. The Case Management Specialist will serve as the legal guardian of the children on their caseload, making decisions and recommendations—occasionally on an emergency basis—to ensure the safety and welfare of those children. This position demonstrates creative service delivery, strong time management skills and excellent decision-making abilities. The Case Management Specialist provides case management services youth and families to ensure compliance of contracts and licensing regulations. Assists the family in cultivating natural and informal family and community supports which can help the family to achieve safety and permanency for children. Assists older youth in developing independent living skills, including referring youth to Chafee Services. Works with children/families & other FST members to obtain permanency: reunification, adoption, or guardianship. This position is responsible for actively recruiting adoptive homes for children whose goal is adoption. Continually identifies and assesses risk factors for children and families severed and develop or update written safety plans as necessary and appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Education, Counseling or Psychology. The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree in Social Work or other Human Services related area. Two (2) years of experience in the Child Welfare area is required. Case Management experience is preferred. Must pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
