Virtual Hospitality Internship for Event Planning Website

Easy Event Planning LLC (EEP) has an exciting internship opportunity for hospitality and event management students to build a portfolio of event ideas and gain critical marketing skills at the same time.

EEP is a technology company that is reducing the time it takes to plan events. Our site users can submit one quick form to be matched (free) with event providers (venues, florists, caterers, etc) who are available for their event and willing to work within their budget. Or they can search the largest US event directory (with over 400K vendor profiles) on their own and even chat in real time with providers who are signed into the site.

This semester, we will go live with both an event blog and our Idea Exchange. Site users will be able to submit their queries to our community and have both vendors and fellow users provide them with customized event ideas at no charge. This is the first big project of internship. You’ll be able to create your own user profile and respond with creative ideas after doing your own research on the topic. This will allow you give you fantastic exposure to an endless number of topics within the event industry. Links to all of your replies will appear on your profile and you can include your profile link right on your resume. Those topics could include things like:
·       Unique gender reveal ideas
·       Do-it-yourself décor tips for a 50th anniversary party
·       What are the latest bridal party attire trends?
·       What are the top wedding colors for 2020?
·       How to track down fellow graduates for a high school reunion

The 2nd project involves writing longer, more in-depth content for blog articles. Sample blog topics might include:
·       How to plan a gender reveal party
·       How to keep a surprise a surprise
·       Décor ideas for a X event
·       Theme party ideas for X type of event
The best Idea Exchange and blog submissions will be promoted on Easy Event Planning’s social media pages.

A third project can involve search engine optimization. We write short content blurbs for the purpose of link building. You’ll be able to track the success of pages you’ve optimized and hopefully watch them rise in the search rankings over the course of the semester.

A fourth project can involve remote event planning. Users at our site submit quote requests and you can offer to help some of our users to find services for their events. This involves contacting vendors about their availablity. This is a fantastic project.

You must have strong writing skills and will be asked to do a writing assessment if you advance to the 2nd round of our hiring process.

The internship will be done remotely and you have a great deal of flexibility on when you work. Communication will take place via Skype video, audio and chat. This is currently an unpaid internship position.

The site is poised to become very high-profile in coming years. Please send a cover letter indicating why you’re interested in the position. We are limited in the number of intern positions but receive a large number of applicants.
