The Equity Project works closely with students and families throughout the high school placement process, to help students match with a strong fit high school; and is deeply committed to supporting alumni throughout their secondary and higher education. 78% of The Equity Project students have been accepted into selective or highly selective public, Catholic, and independent schools, earning over $1.2 million in scholarships and financial aid.
Position overview: The Director of High School Placement will support TEP families on their journey to high school and work with each family to ensure that all 8th grade students attend strong-fit public, Catholic, charter, independent day, and independent boarding high schools.
Position responsibilities:
- High school preparation
- Develop and implement preparation curriculum, lead high school field trips, and organize school choice, interview prep, and financial aid workshops.
- Create and promote programming that cultivates students’ interests, champion student progress, and provide access to selective high school pipeline programs.
- High school placement
- Provide individualized guidance to students and families throughout the application and decision-making process.
- Advocate on behalf of students and families to match students with strong fit schools.
- Aim to place a high percentage of students in selective and very selective public, Catholic, independent day, and independent boarding schools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Spanish proficiency required
- At least two years of relevant experience with middle or high school students
- Working knowledge of New York City high schools and admissions processes is preferred
- Ability to develop relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Ability to gather and analyze data; compile and report information
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Accountability: The Director of High School Placement will report directly to TEP’s Middle School Director.
Compensation and benefits: The Director of High School Placement earns a competitive salary in the range of $60K to $75K based on the individual’s experience level. Robust benefits package included; approximately eight weeks of vacation.
