Accounting/Finance/Analytics Internship + iLEAD Leadership Summit

Note: Candidates will be considered for both opportunities at Transamerica (Accounting/Finance/Analytics Fall 2020 or Spring 20201 Internship and iLEAD Leadership Summit) if selected for an interview.

Accounting/Finance/Analytics Internship

What You Will Do: In this internship, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Transamerica team working on real business problems. Opportunities are available within Financial Reporting, Management Reporting & Analytics, Internal Audit, Corporate Tax, and Internal Controls and more! This position allows you to take your classroom knowledge and apply it to the real world. If you’re self-driven and able to see opportunity in change, you can make a real difference within our business. You will build relationships with key leaders and team members in all areas of finance and accounting.

What Success Looks Like: Working collaboratively with other interns, accounting/finance/analytic team members, and across teams and departments:
  • Perform professional finance/accounting work involving compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data.
  • Reconciles, investigates, corrects and adjusts financial information in accordance with aggressive deadlines.
  • Prepares financial statements and/or work papers for multiple accounting bases.
  • Uses multiple financial systems and/or sophisticated reporting tools to produce a variety of analyses.
  • Proactively identifies unique problems and seeks help to resolve, if necessary.
  • Project work as needed in other multiple bases of accounting and financial reporting.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

What You Need:
  • To qualify for internship, applicants must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a specific degree program. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
  • Strong written & verbal communications communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detailed-oriented
  • Reliable, dependable
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Note: We cannot employ students as interns who will graduate prior to the internship.

iLead Accounting/Finance/Analytics Leadership Summit

iLEAD (I Learn Explore Achieve Develop) Accounting & Finance Leadership Summit – is an opportunity for you to meet with Accounting and Finance leaders and learn more about Transamerica. Our participants walk away with greater industry knowledge and personal development. 

What You Will Do: We are seeking students to participate in our iLEAD Accounting & Finance Leadership Summit, a day and a half conference in June 2020. The iLEAD Summit gives participants a first-hand look at internships and careers within our company.

What You Will Learn: Gain a new perspective on corporate finance and accounting, tax, and internal audit and have the opportunity to: 
  • Get a jump start on next year’s campus recruiting process. This event is an opportunity to make an impression with hiring leaders for future internships (spring, summer, and fall 2021).
  • Network with fellow student leaders and Transamerica professionals by participating in group activities.
  • Learn about the areas of finance and accounting within our company along with our culture focused on feedback and opportunities.

What Success Looks Like: The ideal iLEAD candidate is an undergraduate student, who as of the summer of 2020 will have at least two years remaining in their education prior to graduation. iLEAD is typically held in late May/early June. Invited students will be able to submit their date preference.

What You Need: The above opportunities are available to students majoring or planning to major in accounting/finance/analytics majors. Participants will be selected based on academic achievements, initiative, leadership, extracurricular activities and communication skills.
