2020-03 Human Resources Generalist

At the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, we help the federal Judiciary run more efficiently as we contribute to district initiatives. We are looking for a strategic team member to join our Human Resources and Development Department as a Human Resources Generalist. This role will ensure compliance with the appropriate guidelines, policies, and internal controls for the Clerk’s Office, U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office, and chambers. What will you do?

·      Assist with recruitment and staffing, training and development, employee relations, and salary and benefits administration.
·      Investigate ways to improve existing processes and fix pain points through automation, streamlining, shared services, and manager and employee self-service.
·      Actively foster a customer service culture; ensure timely, accurate, and value-added responses to inbound inquiries and requests with a focus on exceptional service to employees, HR colleagues and the court.
·      Utilize collaboration and consultative skills to influence leaders and teams.

What do you bring to the table?

·      Relevant and progressive experience in the HR field; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
·      Unquestioned integrity, strong written and oral communication skills, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
·      Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with human resources management information systems.
·      Strong motivation, initiative, attention to detail, friendly and customer-focused attitude.
·      Analytical skills with the ability to assist with a wide variety of program areas to include recruitment and staffing, training and development, employee relations, and salary and benefits administration.

Representative Duties
·      Provide benefits guidance to staff, to include health and life insurance, retirement, and workers’ compensation. Maintain and distribute benefits materials.
·      Conduct job analyses. Develop and update position descriptions. Administer the performance management system and applicant tracking system.
·      Lead recruitment efforts. Prepare and distribute vacancy announcements, determine applicant qualifications, coordinate interview process, participate in interviews, and conduct reference checks. Draft offer letters, prepare new employee documents, and conduct new employee orientations.
·      Deliver and coordinate benefits, leave, compensation, Code of Conduct, employee self-service, and other trainings.
·      Administer the leave tracking system. Provide leave request guidance and assistance to staff. Perform audits and correct leave discrepancies.
·      Assist with outreach efforts to include the District Court’s internship program, job fairs, and promoting the court as an employer of choice.
