Research Technician I-II, Liver Cancer Research

Responsibilities
The Saha Laboratory for Liver Cancer Research is accepting applications for a Research Technician position. The laboratory uses basic and translational research approaches to explore pathogenic mechanisms and novel targeted therapies in cholangiocarcinoma, a highly lethal malignancy of the liver bile ducts. Successful candidates will learn to generate and exploit a series of fundamental cancer model systems including genetically engineered murine models (GEMMs), patient-derived xenografts and novel human cancer cell lines.
 
In addition, the incumbent will have the opportunity to become involved with all the steps of research being completed by the group and contribute to publications, with the ultimate goal of translating their findings into novel clinical trials for cholangiocarcinoma patients. Scientific methodologies and areas of focus include animal models and murine genetics, molecular biology, cell biology and metabolism, proteomics, biochemistry, pharmacology, and genomics. The experience gained in the lab will useful for pursuing a career as a researcher or physician. 


Required:
  • A bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields.
  • The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Significant research experience outside of coursework (less than two years for research technician I and more than two years of professional experience for research technician II).
Preferred:
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and murine models is desirable.
