Tribal Smoke-Free Housing Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator for the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (HWPP) will lead a smoke-free tribal housing initiative. The coordinator will work together with local wellness coalitions and tribal housing authorities to improve the quality of life for tribal members through education, advocacy, policy development, and implementation relative to smoke-free housing. The coordinator will work closely with HWPP and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and share responsibility of transferring all communication to the tribal communities. Attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position. Frequent travel to tribal communities is required.

Principal Duties: Work closely with participating Tribes in the effective execution of goals and objectives of the program. Ensure compliance through proper monitoring and reporting. *Engage with and/or create Tribal Advisory Boards to draft and implement smoke-free housing policies. *Utilize Tribal Advisory Boards to educate and promote policy systems and environmental change, which seeks to eliminate secondhand smoke exposure. *Collaborate with Tribal Advisory Boards, Tribal Housing Authorities, Housing Tenants, and Tribal Governments to formulate policy and ensure communication at all levels. *Prepare for and facilitate Tribal Advisory Board meetings and community input meetings. *Manage the reimbursement of food, travel, and other costs associated with meetings. *Report to the Project Investigator (PI) for required items related to the evaluation process and overall project. *Participate in community events to educate and advocate for traditional tobacco use. *Assist Program Director with reporting, budgeting, and tracking progress. *Administer and develop surveys as guided by the program and Tribal Advisory Boards. Disseminate and report final surveys to tribes. *Engage in long range planning for the program and seek additional funding sources on an ongoing basis, which includes writing grants. *Prepare annual reports for the funder. Ensure complete and accurate recordkeeping. *Coordinate the provision of smoking cessation services to Tribal members as needed.
