Internship - Gems and Minerals Collection - Summer 2020

The Gems and Minerals Center at the Perot Museum aims to elevate interest and understanding of gems and minerals. An intern is needed for summer 2020 (June-August) to catalog the permanent gems and minerals collection, prepare for an incoming temporary exhibit in the Lyda Hill Gems and Minerals Hall, and assist with geology related educational programming. The intern’s schedule would be a 4 hour shift 1 day a week. Applicants should be entering their junior or senior year of college and completion of some course work related to mineralogy and/or geology is preferred. Supervisors during the internship will be the Gems and Minerals Director and the Gems and Minerals Registrar. The selected intern will gain insider knowledge of curatorial work specific to handling mineral specimens, creating exhibits, and collaborating with other museum departments.
