Position Summary



Zenith American Solutions is seeking a qualified team player for its Retirement Benefits Processor position. Under direct supervision, the Retirement Benefits Processor will perform technical and administrative duties associated with processing participants' retirement benefit inquires and applications. The position is responsible for verifying eligibility for benefits by applying the rules and regulations of the Plans, preparing pension calculations, processing monthly benefit payments and assisting with recurring annual or special projects as necessary. The position will be supporting several pension funds and will serve as a strong resource to assist with workload overflows relating to seasonal volume, recurring annual and ad-hoc special projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Process retirement benefit applications, verify the accuracy of information and research/investigate past service, related credits and insurance deductions.
  • Respond to inquiries from participants, beneficiaries, and union representatives regarding pension benefits.
  • Determine eligibility for benefits and request necessary documentation from unions, employers and the Social Security Administration to expedite processing.
  • Prepare complex pension calculations.
  • Process and reconcile monthly benefit payments.
  • Initiate and prepare correspondence to participants, beneficiaries, employers and others regarding general account information, pension history, monthly retirement benefits, etc.
  • Perform data entry and data correction tasks to update and correct member information. Update pension data in the Pension Administration System.
  • Use strong analytical and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Administer pension benefits in accordance with the Plan Documents and have a general understanding of regulatory requirements and ERISA.
  • Consistently meet established performance standards.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Effort


  • Typically sitting at a desk or table, working on a computer in excess of 85%.
  • Normal degree of physical effort in typical office environment with comfortable, constant temperatures and absence of objectionable elements.
  • May be subject to interruptions.
  • May be required to lift a maximum of 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to have flexible work schedule when workflow requires.
  • Meet established attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • 5-10% travel may be required.



Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or business related field (i.e. accounting, finance, business administration, mathematics, etc.) from a major accredited university.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in accounting, employee benefits (retirement plans), or payroll is preferred.
  • Requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality.
  • Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Solid organization skills with detail orientation and listening skills.
  • Strong decision making and research abilities.
  • Ability to interpret general business materials, technical procedures, benefits plans and regulations.    
  • Able to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
