Activities Assistant

Garnett Place is seeking an energetic and engaging Activity Assistant. The purpose of an Activity Assistant is to engage the residents and create a fun atmosphere. Duties will include running a variety of activities that meet the physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs of older adults. You will be responsible for setting up, leading, and cleaning up after the activity. Other duties may include assisting residents to and from the activity, various office tasks. Duties may also include serving responsibilities in the dining room.

HOURS
Saturday, Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (REQUIRED)
Flexible hours during the week.

Preferred, but not required, traits:
 Experience leading activities
 Health Aide/ Resident Aide experience
 Serving experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE
 Complete Activity Pursuit Forms and Life Stories.
 Assist in calendar creation and completion.
 Be able to respond to flexible scheduling.
 Document attendance.
 Assist residents in getting to and from the activity rooms.
 Serve food at programs following health code regulations.
 Develop new program ideas.
 Assist in planned outings.
 Maintain activity equipment.
 Promote and encourage participation in activities.
 Lead activities in Independent, Assisted, and Memory Care independently.
 Attend bi-weekly in-services, mandatory meetings, and occasional coordinators’ meeting.
 Use personal protective equipment, as required.
 Practice management skills, including budgeting and communication.
 Respond to smoke and fire alarm systems.
 Share ideas and comments you feel would benefit the Community.
 Follow all Policies and Procedures and the Employee Handbook.
 Uphold confidentiality and health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) / HITECH HIPPA regulations.
 Comply with all state regulations as they apply to Assisted Living.
