Accounting Associate

DESCRIPTION
HappiLabs is a small business with locations in San Francisco and Chicago that provides a service to scientists called the Virtual Lab Manager. We support scientists in various ways, virtually, and act as an outsourced purchasing department for biotech companies and scientific research labs.

Our mission: to improve the happiness of scientists and the quality of their research.

HappiLabs is looking for an experienced Accounting Associate to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance department. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, detail-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE
A strong candidate must have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field 
  • 2+ years experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keeping detailed accounting records
  • Tracking bank account balances
  • Daily classification of transactions in QuickBooks Online
  • Completing & tracking Purchase Orders
  • Reconciling credit card statements
  • Reporting progress and solving problems at team meetings
  • Assisting with month-end closing process
  • Communicating with suppliers to track down receipts and invoices
  • Handling any issues with billing


DESIRED SKILLS AND TRAITS
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks Online, Google Suites, Excel, and Bill.com
  • Extensive experience with data entry and record keeping
  • Proactive – provide information without being asked
  • Tech savvy & Innovative – if you see inefficiencies, help identify solutions
  • Detail orientated and very organized
  • Clear written communication skills

COMPENSATION
  • Full-time salaried, $40-$55k, depending on experience
  • Medical and Dental health benefits
