IT Security Specialist

Responsibilities
The IT Security Specialist serves as the IT Security Coordinator for the Ringling Museum overseeing vulnerability management and data loss prevention efforts. This position also supports compliance with FSU’s Information Risk Management Program.

Implements systems and makes global changes to improve The Ringling’s overall security posture. Supports the Information Security Manager and others with matters pertaining to information security. Maintains current knowledge of industry standards related to information security through continuing education and other training resources. 

Assists Server Administrator with security changes to servers, security updates, and assists with backups. Functions as backup to Server Administrator which may include assisting with non-server security related tasks.

Reviews all pertinent system and application logs in accordance with Ringling Museum compliance requirements. Analyzes logs and investigates potential indicators of real or potential compromise and determines any necessary action. Oversees Nexpose scanning progress and results to ensure IT vulnerability management. Works with others to remediate vulnerabilities identified in scans. Analyzes circumstances, determines, and coordinates best course of action. Conducts tasks on a scheduled basis: obtains compliance certificates from vendors, publishes security information in specific areas, checks established security sites that post vulnerabilities, schedules baseline security analysis of servers and network devices, etc. 

Assists Unit Privacy Coordinator with FSU’s Information Risk Management Program compliance. Duties include maintenance of the information identification and classification documentation of unit protected and private information assets, assessment of the unit’s electronic and physical controls for protected or private information to ensure they meet program requirements, and assisting with ensuring staff are trained on the Information Privacy Policy and specific legislated or contract privacy requirements.

Oversees Ringling Data Loss Prevention (DLP) efforts to include scanning of local file shares for sensitive information and remediating as necessary by directing efforts across departments and participating in applicable tasks. Implements technical compliance requirements for Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Payment Card Information Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) at The Ringling. Serves as technical contact for related matters.

Develops, as needed, and conducts training for Ringling staff on topics related to information security. Troubleshoots and provides support services to staff. Completes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years’ experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.

·        Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.

·        Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures for computer support.

·        Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the network and data field.

·        Knowledge of information technology security measures.

·        Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

·        Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.

·        *Please note: A work sample will be administered if selected for interview.

Preferred
·        Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

·        Experience in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

·        Experience in Linux Operating Systems.

·        Knowledge of VMware, vSphere, and vCenter.

·        Ability or experience with project management including overseeing others.

·        Previous experience analyzing policies and making recommendations to management.

·        Previous experience interacting with a variety of personnel to include ITS and non-ITS workers.
 
Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipated salary range of up to $60,000 annually (commensurate with experience) + Florida state benefits available.

Soft Money Funded Position
This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.
 
Schedule
While the primary working hours for this position are Monday through Friday between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, special events, and holidays based on the needs of the Ringling.

Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
