SUMMARY:  
The Purchasing Intern assists the buyers in the daily operations of their position. This includes sourcing, ordering and expediting parts as driven by Company production schedules. Other duties may be assigned as needed or requested.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will include, but not limited to the following areas.
  • Assist in procuring production related materials and services on a competitive market basis.
  • Ensure that all purchase related messages are acted upon in a timely manner.         
  • Assist to ensure that the inventory within the assigned product families      or part number meet MICO demand and service level objectives.
  • Ensure that the assigned suppliers are meeting the expectations of MICO in so far as quality, delivery, service and price; and take corrective actions to remedy the shortfall as necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of professional knowledge in resource management..
  • Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  • Prepares, issues and schedules purchase orders for production intent items
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance MICO terms and conditions of purchase.
  • Develops methods procedures, practices, and studies workflow, sequence of operations, and arrangement to determine expediency of daily operations.
  • Generate reports to assist buyers. Support projects of commodity strategy.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Student working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Operations Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or related field for entire duration of internship.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to effectively manage time, resources, inventory and control inventory dollars.
  • Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely   manner.
  • Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret information from various sources including MRP, production schedules, etc.
