Physics Teacher - No Teaching License Required

Job Product:  Student understanding of physics that furthers the development of character and intellect.
General Purpose: The physics teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to develop academic excellence, virtue, and leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Demonstrates subject matter knowledge
  • Mechanics (including fluid mechanics)
  • Heat, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
  • Kinetic theory of gases
  • Light and geometric optics
  • Electricity and magnetism
  • Waves (sound and light)
  • The Atom: its structure and the nucleus (including nuclear reactions)
  • Quantum theory of the atom
  • Quantum theory of light
  • Engineering and technical applications of physics
  • Related aspects of biology, chemistry, earth science, and mathematics, such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, vector analysis, and calculus
  • History and philosophy of science
  • Methods of research in the Sciences, including laboratory techniques and the use of associated technology

Meets professional responsibilities
 Minimum Requirements:  
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in physics, with at least 36 semester hours in physics
Colorado teaching license is not required
Experience: 
Prior teaching experience preferred, but is not required
