JOB TITLE: Intern- Regulatory Affairs

DEPARTMENT: Regulatory Affairs – Kansas City Headquarters
LOCATION: Kansas City, MO
PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $18.00/hour

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Intern Description:
We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our Regulatory Affairs team. In this position, you will be expected to help us empower a better future for our customers and our region. Evergy seeks to become the best energy company. As an Intern in our department you will be asked to learn and contribute to supporting the regulatory needs of a Fortune 500 energy company and participate/lead projects delivering real results, contributing to our organization’s success. Projects will be analytical and technical in nature, likely utilizing new applications and processes. You will work with Regulatory leaders and subject matter experts to achieve results.
 
Job tasks include but not limited to:
  • Provide support for executive or corporate requirements by contributing to special project studies, analyses and reports as required.
  • Provide contributions leading to successful completion of multifaceted projects within economic and time constraints.
  • Support the development/ implementation/ maintenance of regulatory systems.
  • Develop innovative solutions designed to streamline/enhance processes and procedures geared toward greater efficiency and effectiveness of the Regulatory department
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned.
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in a business-related field, engineering, economics, quantitative analysis, or science.
 
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
  • Must possess good communications skills, capable of:
  • listening to gather and synthesize information;
  • speaking in a clear and concise manner to convey information often technical in nature;
  • preparing written material that provides study results, reports, memos, and documentation of subjects often technical in nature.
  • On fundamental issues, capable of:
  • researching issues using multiple sources of data and appropriate technical tools available;
  • analyzing and synthesizing data gathered;
  • transforming data gathered into information that can be used to facilitate decision making;
  • drawing appropriate conclusions based on information and;
  • making sound recommendations that consider the proper balance among the various interests of internal operations, customers, regulators, shareholders, and competitors that may be impacted by the recommendation.
  • Possesses a high degree of work initiative.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and demonstrate the ability to learn other software products as necessary.
