Vortex Optics is looking for a talented individual with a positive attitude, proactive mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to join our Accounting team. As a Staff Accountant, you’ll use critical thinking and problem solving to take ownership over assigned areas while supporting the foundational accounting function for the organization and ensuring complete and accurate data.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Perform account reconciliations, journal entries and other close related tasks
• Preparation of supporting schedules and journal entry backup
• Analyze and investigate accounting discrepancies
• Assist cross-functional members of the business
• Special projects and ad hoc reporting as requested
• Assist in creation of accounting procedure documentation
• Participate and help build out cross-functional trainings on key accounting topics
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
• Foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP and proper accounting
• Experience analyzing and investigating accounting discrepancies
• Demonstrated history of process improvement
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter and proactive mentality combined with ability to see projects through to completion
• Excellent attention to detail, highly organized and computer literate
Preferred Experience and Skills
• Experience with SAP / SAP by Design or equivalent ERP accounting systems
