Coatings Technology Summer Internship

Chemours is seeking a Coatings Technology Summer Internship to join our growing Titanium Technologies Business team! This position will report directly to the Technical Director in our Newark, DE location and will work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week from.
 
Students that succeed in Chemours’ internship and co-op program are typically reconsidered for future opportunities within the company! Eager students that are looking to be a catalyst for better are encouraged to apply.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Daily activities:
  • Design of lab experiments
  • Formulation of waterborne paint systems
  • Preparation of coating and dispersion samples
  • Analyzing properties of coatings (such as color, thickness, adhesion, water resistance) 

Goals:
  • Optimizing paint formulations
  • Understanding impacts of TiO2 pigment on coating properties
  • Building an electrochemical test method to evaluate coating quality

Responsibilities
  • Performing literature searches and reviews
  • Analyzing data and building models
  • Writing experimental plans and results

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Current enrollment at an accredited university in chemistry or chemical engineering
  • Direct lab experience and familiarity with electrochemical instrumentation
  • Ability to quickly learn new analytical tools
  • A junior or senior at a four-year college, or a graduate student
  • Attention to detail and pro-active willingness to learn new techniques and methods

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
  • Experience with Minitab
  • Experience designing experiments using a statistical approach (DOE)
  • Experience with paint making or testing
  • Experience with electrochemical test method
  • 3.5 GPA or above
