Leadership and the American Presidency Summer Program

Leadership and the American Presidency offers students unique experiences throughout the Summer and Fall to participate in programming as well as attend special events. Our program, co-sponsored by The Fund for American Studies, provides the opportunities and resources for students to interact with and learn valuable insight from top names in government, business, and nonprofit organizations. As students learn about their own leadership journeys, speakers offer their personal leadership lessons to further promote, educate, and encourage students about the power of leadership and civic engagement. Details about the program below.

  • Students take the "American Presidency" course accredited through George Mason University which studies the American Presidency thematically through our Presidential Leadership Journey that we built. During the course, the students will continuously relate the Presidential Leadership Journey to their own leadership journeys.
  • Students are guaranteed an internship during the course of the program unique to their major, interests, or skill set.
  • Students will participate in programming throughout the summer including but not limited to: Opening Reception Speaker, Closing Dinner Speaker, and a Presidential Leadership Symposium hosted at the UVA Miller Center.
