Ecological Restoration - Technician

 Primary Responsibilities Overview
·        To be a primary source of field labor on restoration projects
·        To specialize in equipment operations and technical field skills and practices

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide Field Labor on Projects in the following areas
·        Soil Preparation
·        Seeding
·        Planting
·        Erosion control
·        Hand weeding
·        Broadcast and spot herbicide applications
·        Small power equipment operations
·        Prescribed burning
·        Invasive species control
·        Tractor operations

Equipment Operations and Technical Practices
·        Be a primary source of equipment operations (especially large equipment) for install and management services
·        Perform specialized field practices that require technical expertise
·        Continually learn and expand knowledge base of both equipment operations and technical skills



Other duties as assigned may include but are not limited to the following
·       Mechanical repairs
·       Facilities maintenance and repair
·       Help at other site location and/or departments

Job Requirements

-         Sincere interest in native plant communities.
-         Ability to lift 50 lbs. often.
-         Ability to obtain MnDOT Health Card (PRI pays).
-         Valid MN Driver’s License
-         Ability to be insured to drive company vehicle by PRI insurance company.
-         Comfortable handling herbicides.
-         Ability to obtain MN Dept of Ag Pesticide Applicator License(PRI Pays)
-         Comfortable with large and small power equipment use.
-         Tolerance of working outside in adverse conditions.
-         Willingness to sometimes work long/unpredictable hours.
