Data Science Intern (Performance Management)

Summary


CTA’s Performance Management (PM) team is seeking a data science intern to help analyze and forecast performance metrics across the entire organization.

 This intern will work closely with our team and get hands-on training creating back-end workflows in Python, visualizing data in Power BI, and presenting to stakeholders across different departments in the CTA. This intern will be given a large breadth of experience through coding, analysis, and innovate design, and have the opportunity to improve their data mangement and analysis skills and to learn how a large public transit organization functions. We are looking for an excited individual who likes transit and is ready to tackle our data head-on.

This position will be a full-time internship over the summer with the possibility of continuing a part-time internship for the 2020-2021 school year.


Responsibilities


The data science intern will be exposed to a wide range of responsibilities that will provide you the opportunity to build your skills and experience in a variety of topics that include the following:
·      Creating data pipelines and using web scrapping tools in Python and SQL
·      Using predictive modeling and analytics to develop plans to improve
·      Visualizing performace through interactive dashboards using Power BI


Key Skills, Knowledge, Abilities


Pre-requisites:
·     Sophomore or above working towards a 4-year degree at an accredited university
·     Basic knowledge of statistics and modeling
·     Background in data, both cleaning and visualizing
·     Experience in Python, R, SQL, or PowerBI

This job requires a minimum of some experience in any coding language; however, we are more importantly looking for someone who isn't afraid to ask questions and is ready to learn on the job!
