The AAPD conducts an annual Pediatric Oral Health Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C. The AAPD Informs members and policymakers about public policy issues impacting children’s oral health. The AAPD operates a Political Action Committee: https://www.aapd.org/advocacy/aapd-pac/
The intern will assist AAPD’s Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, and Director of the Research and Policy Center, with:
· Tracking and analyzing federal and state legislative and regulatory proposals impacting children’s oral health.
· Writing public policy updates for the website, bi-monthly magazine, and bi-weekly e-newsletter.
· Drafting grass roots alerts to AAPD members utilizing grass roots software.
· Identifying speakers for the AAPD Pediatric Oral Health Advocacy Conference.
· Updating dental faculty loan repayment profiles.
· Helping coordinate PAC check deliveries in Washington, DC and in our members’ offices or homes.
· Assisting in the research and editing of technical brief on value-based payments in pediatric dentistry
· Updating a state-by-state profiles of whether essential dental codes to establish a dental home are covered by Medicaid.
· Update of state Medicaid ESPDT dental periodicity schedule webpage listing.
· Update of state dentist loan repayment programs chart.
