Young Conservatory Summer 2020 Internship Program

A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory (YC) Summer Internship Program provides hands-on training in theater education, arts administration, and production with one of the country’s premier not-for-profit theater companies in the heart of San Francisco. Positions are available to incoming and current college students interested in production, education and non-profit administration. YC Summer Internships are 4 weeks (Education) or 8 weeks (Production) in length at 30 hours a week and come with a small commute stipend and other perks, including an on-site mentor and opportunities to attend networking panels with artistic, education, production and other theater professionals. Applicants are free to express interest in both positions. Placement will be based on availability/need and interview.

*Students are welcome to arrange academic credit through their schools.

Education Internship

DATES: 4-week sessions from May 25—August 14
YC Interns are given the opportunity to work behind the scenes in the Young Conservatory Office under the guidance of the YC Director, YC administrative team, and our teaching artists. By assisting in the daily business of the school, assistants are given a unique look at arts administration from an educational standpoint.

Interns provide in-classroom support to our teaching artists through assisting with our students’ training, which includes:
  • Maintaining studio needs and learning environments.
  • Assisting teaching artists in the studios.
  •  Supervising YC students on their breaks.
  •  Assisting in the daily business of the school in the Conservatory Office.
 




Production Internship

DATES: June 15—August 15
Production Interns will work under the guidance of the Conservatory Artistic and Production teams on a large-scale musical on the Rembe Stage at the Strand. The Summer 2020 YC production is a new commissioned musical THE CODE by The Kilbanes and directed by Jessica Holt. Performances run August 6-15th.

Interns support YC productions in stage management, design, and technical and artistic execution such as:
  • Attending rehearsals and managing production notes
  • Maintaining rehearsal room processes and needs
  •  Working backstage during performances
  • Assisting office needs related to the productions

 





The application deadline for Summer 2020 Internship positions is March 1, 2020.

Applicants will be contacted with a decision no later than April 1.
