The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

Join us as a summer intern to learn about Allina Health and conduct a cross-functional project that will help enable Allina Health’s mission. Your interests and skillsets will be matched with a specific project for a duration of 10 weeks.

Stakeholder needs are analyzed, structured, and specified for use in the design and implementation of a project. Define and describe the characteristics of an acceptable solution to a financial/business problem.

  • Identify, define and document business processes in need of improvement/implementation
  • Identify and document overall assumptions
  • Evaluate workflows for opportunities to automate manual procedures.
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders
  • Analyze and document user requirements
  • Analyze and document functional requirements
  • Document requirements and receive validation and signoff from the stakeholder
  • Manage requirements conflicts
  • Communicate and negotiate with internal Finance team as needed
  • Complete analysis to recommend optimization of features and functions of financial systems/processes
  • Perform gap analysis as required
  • Prepare analysis documents, including options considered and final recommendations/conclusions

Prepare and present final project to end users

Support the implementation of new and/or changed processes/functionalities/systems:
  • Assist with the development of financial reports
  • Test any and all changes to procedures/workflows
  • Training of end users as needed
  • Provide assistance preparing financial data/reports for management decision support

Familiar with financial concepts. Ability to understand tasks assigned on a project team. Ability to manage own work to accomplish project goals.

Education

Current 3rd or 4th Year student obtaining Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.

Qualification/Skills

Work Schedule – Additional Position Details:
10 Weeks: June 8th, 2020 - August 14th, 2020
Daytime shift (8:00am - 5:00pm)
