Summary 
The Family Care Summer Intern will assist full time staff team in projects and initiatives that will help provide care and comfort for the families utilizing the House services, both residing at the House and participation in our Day Program. Each intern is expected to work 15 to 20 hours per week. The positions for Family Care Intern will be located at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children's Hospital, Chicago, IL
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Emphasis
  • Build an understanding of assigned House’s goals and operational procedures.
  • Gain a working knowledge of Property Management Systems, Key systems and applicable software utilized for family guest areas in order to assist Family Care Department in checking families in and out of the House.
  • Exposure to House operations including giving House tours, interacting with volunteer groups and daily interaction with families staying at our Ronald McDonald House.
  • Gain working knowledge of housekeeping practices and be able to inspect a guest room after it has been cleaned to approve it for assignment to a family.
  • Assist Family Care Department with miscellaneous projects as assigned ranging from administrative to operational tasks.

  • Coordinating efforts of Family Care operations including reservations, check-in, check-out and housekeeping services

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong customer services skills via phone, email and in person
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and the general public
  • Effective communication, writing and grammar skills, paying great attention to detail.
  • Proficient with computer word processing and spreadsheet programs.

  • The intern must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
