LOCATION: Topeka, KS
                    Kansas City, MO
PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $18.00

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Other hours as required)

We provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy, including volunteer events, power plant tours, lunch and learns, and more.
 
Intern Description:
The Diversity and Inclusion Intern will report directly to the Director of Diversity and Inclusion in partnership to advocate for inclusion, diversity and equity at Evergy while establishing and leveraging external outreach initiatives to support workforce and workplace needs of the organization.
The Diversity and Inclusion department reports directly to the President and CEO and works closely with HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, Public Affairs, Legal and other organizational leader to enhance company-wide workforce planning, recruitment, branding, inclusion, development and retention of well-qualified diverse and representative workforce.
More specifically, the Diversity and Inclusion Intern will work to support the office in the following ways:
 
Job tasks include but not limited to:
·      Serve as an active idea-generator for solutions targeted at increasing inclusion, diversity and equity
·      Identify, develop and implement strategies that attract and retain minority talent
·      Compile data into graphical representations in collaboration with various departments
·      Assess data for descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytical purposes
·      Build and leverage partnerships among the 7 BRGs (Business Resource Groups)
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in one of the following or a related areas: Business, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Education and Mass Communications.

·      Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity and equity
·      Strategic thinking and analytical skills
·      Communication and collaboration skills
·      Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
·      Presentation (oral and business writing) skills
·      Strong decision-making abilities
·      Flexibility, willingness to adapt in a changing, complex and ambigous environment
·      Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented

Working Conditions:
Normal corporate working conditions. Some travel required for meetings with external constituents within our vast coverage area. Must be willing to travel outside of coverage area as prescribed.
