Family Development Specialist

YSS is seeking a full-time Family Development Specialist (FDS) for our Healthy Futures program. The FDS will provide intensive in-home one-on-one services to specific identified individuals and families in Boone and Story County. The FDS will be responsible for a planned case load as required by program.

Duties will include informal assessment of self-sufficiency needs, child developmental screenings, pre/postnatal depression screenings and general family well-being. The FDS will assist participants in goal setting and provide individual support and guidance to participants that will improve their parenting skills and enable them to become self-sufficient.

Family Nest duties will include organizing and/or presenting parent education sessions, enrollment of participants meeting enrollment criteria, and will participate in purchasing items for the Family Nest store as well as the ongoing upkeep of the store, and other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field is required. One year of experience in human services or any equivalent combination of experience and training is required.

Must be able to drive, must have a vehicle available and must be willing to work flexible hours.
