Seasonal Gardener Position

The Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is hiring one (1) seasonal gardener for our 2020 season. We are looking for an individual who is hard-working, friendly, and loves to be outside. 90-95% of work time will be spent outdoors, rain or shine. Applicants shouldn’t be afraid to get their hands dirty. Seasonal gardeners will report directly to the Executive Director. 

·        Weeding various areas of the Arboretum’s 40 acres

·        Watering, often daily during the hottest parts of the season

·        Planting and transplanting various annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs

·        Frequent weed trimming with a gas powered weed trimmer

·        Working in all types of weather conditions (rain, heat, humidity, etc.)

·        Often requires lifting 50+ pounds

·        Mulching garden beds

·        Maintaining the Arboretum’s trail system

·        May include driving a golf cart, tractor, mowers, or Gator

·        Setting up Children’s Garden each morning

·        Cleaning of Education Center facilities

·        Working in the Welcome Center, greeting guests, on occasion

·        Valid Driver’s License

·        Preference given to those with outdoor work experience

·        Applicants should be able to multitask, work alone or with a group, and be able to follow instructions

·        Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

·        Mid-April – Mid-October

·        Monday-Saturday, 8am-3pm, approximately

·        35 - 40 hours/week

·        $12.00 / hour
