The Vertex Summer Intern Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Intern Program: (May/ June – August 2020), Full Time, 40 Hours/Week
Job Posting Description Vertex San Diego seeks a motivated individual to join their pharmacology group as an intern. Key responsibilities: • Synthesis and mutagenesis of cDNA-containing expression vectors • In vitro synthesis of mRNA • Micro-injection of Xenopus laevis oocytes • Preparation of buffers and electrophysiological reagents • Running of electrophysiology experiments in manual and/or automated systems • Maintenance of mammalian cells in culture. • Analysis of electrophysiology data and interpretation of results • Presentation of data and conclusions to team members • Basic programming using scientific software • Job Families for Job Profiles Minimum Qualifications: • The candidate should graduate in 2020 with a degree in life sciences and have hands-on laboratory research experience in molecular biology, neuroscience and/or electrophysiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in or before 2020.
