Intern, Reporting and Metrics

Position Summary:

Sony Corporation of America (SCA), is seeking an Intern, Reporting and Metrics to join the Global Information Security Department (GISD) organization located in Herndon, VA for the 2020 summer internship program. This position will report to the Global Security Incident Response Team (GSIRT) HQ Metrics & Reporting Manager and be a part of the team responsible for the oversight, tracking, and reporting of the GSIRT mission of protecting Sony by minimizing the frequency and impact of cyber incidents.  This is a position for those interested in pursuing a career in cyber security on a global scale. 
The GISD summer internship program runs for twelve weeks beginning in May and ending in August. Our program is designed to provide skills, knowledge, and hands-on work experience in the information security industry, supporting the personal growth of our interns as well as Sony business results.
This role is a fulltime, paid internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist team members with creation of first-class reporting products for Sony Group companies to provide status on GSIRT managed tools and services
  • Perform both automated and manual data collection
  • Support development of additional, advanced reporting content for leadership and executive management, as needed
  • Support the mission of the team by facilitating projects for streamlined communication and distribution of reporting products
  • Participate in cyber security activities, communication, and coordination across the Sony Enterprise

Qualifications:

  • Meets one or more of the following requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program
  • Currently enrolled in a technical or certificate program
  • Recent graduate of a degree-seeking or technical program, within one year of completion
  • Preferred education in Communications, Business Administration, or related field with strong academic performance
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program  in computer science, cyber security, information ology or related subject matter
  • Previous coursework or work experience in data analysis, statistics, information management or related field, preferred
  • Detail-oriented, quick learner, ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with JIRA or similar ticket-based tracking system a plus
  • Experience with Splunk highly desirable
