Life Sciences Career Trainee, Opt. E (Target Title: Environmental Protection Specialist I, Bid ID #46-15-34

Under direct supervision of the Compliance and Reporting Unit Manager, Waste Reduction and Compliance Section (WRCS), in the Bureau of Land (BOL), participates in an Agency sponsored training program up to twelve months in duration, receiving training and work assignments designed to develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills consonant with various professional life sciences career disciplines with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency; receives controlled assignments in a broad range of beginning level professional duties related to the routine scientific assurance and quality control; tracking for BOL Field Operations Section (FOS) solid waste and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) inspection and closure reports, violation notices, non-compliance advisory letters, Compliance Commitment Agreements (CCAs), Consent Orders, Non-hazardous Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP), and other enforcement actions. Travels in performance of duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor's degree in some field of the life sciences. 
This class is included as an Upward mobility Program credential title.
 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires ability to prepare comprehensive written and oral reports; requires ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; requires ability to profit from training received in the designated area of state government; requires ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and agency representatives.
Specific Job Requirements: Requires the ability to utilize a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel software. Requires the ability to travel and a valid driver's license.
