Engineer I - II (Foundations Engineer) - Two Positions(Job Id 13650)

The Foundation Engineer is responsible for providing geotechnical recommendations to designers for projects throughout the state to include bridges, buildings, retaining walls, traffic signals, and roadway lighting. Also provides technical assistance to field engineers during construction of driven piling, drilled shafts, spread footings, and retaining walls.
Licenses and Certifications:
Applicant should possess or be eligible to obtain an FE or PE license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Only applicants with a bachelor's degree in civil or geological engineering or a related engineering field will be considered.
Knowledge of:
  • geotechnical engineering principles (soil mechanics, groundwater, etc.);
  • South Dakota geology;
  • computers and computer systems.
Skill to:
  • communicate effectively;
  • manage multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to:
  • effectively plan, prioritize, and organize work to meet schedules and deadlines;
  • prepare, interpret, and use engineering plans, maps, specifications, and technical reports;
  • provide work direction;
  • work outdoors in all weather conditions.
