Public Relations Summer Intern (Remote)
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and creative public relations intern to join us for the summer. In this role, you will help to run AsylumConnect’s speaking & awards program, update media lists, and draft and send media pitches. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is passionate about LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights, and interested in pursuing a career in public relations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain events/awards/speaking engagement calendar.
- Draft awards/speaking submissions, as needed.
- Build and regularly update media lists and editorial calendars.
- Draft and send pitches to media.
- Review incoming HAROs and Google Alerts.
Qualifications
- Obtained or pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
- Excellent writer.
- Comfortable with online communication tools (Slack, Asana, G Suite).
- Previous experience in public relations/media strongly preferred.
- Strong interest in AsylumConnect, and LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights.
Schedule & Compensation: We’re looking for summer interns to join us from June – August 2020, with a commitment of 15-30 hours per week, Monday – Friday. *Note: This internship is remote and unpaid.
