Position Objective:
Assist Arlington International Racecourse Marketing Department by supporting Arlington International event marketing, communications and community outreach initiatives executed at Arlington International and throughout the surrounding communities.

Must have the ability to manage aggressive timelines and work effectively with others on a team focused on multiple initiatives to build upon Arlington’s strengths to showcase Arlington as a premiere entertainment destination.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects as assigned by Marketing Department; these may include (but are not limited to) marketing events, fan clubs and/or on-site promotions.
  • Actively contribute creative ideas for on-site contests, entertainment and marketing events.
  • Create and maintain database of vendor/partnership contact information, contest participants and club members.
  • Track and manage the inventory of promotional giveaways and supplies.
  • Execute race day initiatives; assist in hands-on set up and take down of all race day content for on-site contests, signage, promotions, activities and events.
  • Assist in executing communications plan for each event.
  • Create signage, flyers and marketing materials as needed.
  • Attend pre-race day marketing meetings.
  • Provide detailed recaps of all marketing and street team events.
  • Responsible for departmental data entry to fulfill customer acquisition goals.
  • Assist in taking event photographs and managing photo library.
  • Assist Marketing Department with administrative needs on an as needed basis.
  • Occasionally build fan engagement on and off-site with mascot appearances.
  • Occasionally participate as an active member of Arlington International Promotional Team by attending community events and interacting with area residents to promote the Arlington brand, encourage ticket sales and capture data.

Personal Qualifications:
  • Must be available to start in May. Hours will vary but range from 30-40 hours per week. The ideal candidate is available May 1-September 26.
  • Weekend, evening and holiday availability is required.
  • Must be a team player, people-oriented, a good problem solver, detailed, able to communicate clearly and accurately, creative, courteous, professional, enthusiastic, computer literate, and a strong proofreader.
  • Must be trustworthy and fully dedicated to do what it takes for the company to be successful.
  • Must be a self-starter, with a strong sense of urgency in tackling challenges.
  • Must possess an entrepreneurial attitude coupled with the ability to implement programs with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional work ethic, strong desire to succeed, eagerness to learn, professionalism and a passion for the sporting industry.
  • Excellent human relations and communications skills are essential. The ability to communicate both orally and in writing to internal and external contacts is required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be extremely punctual. 
 
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Recent graduate or enrolled college student majoring in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration.
  • Must have strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adobe Photoshop and graphic design experience a plus.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working within aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Must be able to manage your own schedule to achieve daily and weekly goals.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays particularly throughout the entire 2020 season, which runs from May through September.
