Market Analyst - Atlanta, GA
As a Market Analyst, you run your own ‘company’ or market, generating the revenue that powers the railroad. Due to the variety of work involved, the ability to be nimble and flex your skills to negotiate, analyze, lead, communicate, learn and understand what changes may affect your product--power your day.
The Market Analyst is your first step in a career progression within our Marketing Department. A typical day consists of mining and analyzing data to develop materials for strategic business decisions and internal reporting. The Market Analyst grows and maintains relationships with our external customers to progress business goals such as competitive pricing and new business cultivation.
What makes a successful Market Analyst?
- Strong analytical skills to provide accurate revenue analysis, volume forecast, as well as supplemental analyses including data on macro-economic trends and drivers within NS’ markets.
- Solid interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with your team, leadership, and your customers.
- Ability to participate on high-functioning teams which craft and deliver presentations.
- A self-starter willing to learn his or her commodity, external factors influencing pricing of that commodity, and interact with industry experts.
- Skilled in conducting research studies that will provide the team members and senior management with actionable business intelligence.
- Willingness to broaden your horizons and learn how the railroad operates from top to bottom to solve problems and grow your business.
- Ability to manage time, multitask, and organize all aspects of your work while paying close attention to detail.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree
- Preferred Majors: Economics, Management, Finance, Marketing, International Business, Statistics, and majors in a similar field of study will be considered
- Proficient in MS office with an emphasis on Excel
