State Historic Preservation Office Internship
Job Description
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is looking to fill a State Historic Preservation Office Internship (Administrative Intern) to assist the state.
Internship Purpose and Goals
- To assist with the work of the State Historic Preservation Office
Time Commitment
- Duration: Summer Semester 2020
- Frequency: Minimum of 8 hours per week, unpaid.
- Will complete hours by Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Duties and Essential Activities
- Checking GIS layer for accuracy and completeness.
- Updating and maintaining associated National Archaeological Database project files.
- Participating in the development of an associated online system.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in history, archaeology, preservation and/or GIS.
- Have an interest in historic preservation
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong research skills are expected.
- Must conduct oneself in a mature/professional manner and able to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Training
- Training as needed and orientation to the project will be provided
Department/Supervisor
- This internship is within the State Historic Preservation Office.
- The intern will be supervised by the staff of the State Historic Preservation Office
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
