State Historic Preservation Office Internship

Job Description
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is looking to fill a State Historic Preservation Office Internship (Administrative Intern) to assist the state.

Internship Purpose and Goals
  • To assist with the work of the State Historic Preservation Office
 
Time Commitment
  • Duration: Summer Semester 2020
  • Frequency: Minimum of 8 hours per week, unpaid.
  • Will complete hours by Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
 
Duties and Essential Activities
  • Checking GIS layer for accuracy and completeness.
  • Updating and maintaining associated National Archaeological Database project files.
  • Participating in the development of an associated online system.
 
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Pursuing a degree in history, archaeology, preservation and/or GIS.
  • Have an interest in historic preservation
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills are expected.
  • Must conduct oneself in a mature/professional manner and able to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
 
Training
  • Training as needed and orientation to the project will be provided
 
Department/Supervisor
  • This internship is within the State Historic Preservation Office.
  • The intern will be supervised by the staff of the State Historic Preservation Office

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
