About AmeriCorps VISTA:

Year-long AmeriCorps VISTA members serve for a full year and perform indirect service such as resource development and program coordination.  

Service begins on Monday, June 8, 2020 and ends on Monday, June 7, 2021.

About the Alaska Coalition on Housing & Homelessness:

The AKCH2 mission is to increase affordable housing and end homelessness in Alaska. Given the vast geographic area of our state and the increased cost of living/development, accomplishing this mission comes with unique challenges. The AKCH2 oversees the Balance of State (BoS) Continuum of Care (CoC), which is a collection of anti-poverty programs that work together to end homelessness in Alaska. The Development Coordinator VISTA will work with the AKCH2 Director to build organizational capacity for these anti-poverty programs. The VISTA activities will include exploring CoC best practices, developing an outreach campaign, and assisting in creating a funding plan for AKCH2. 

The CoF AKCH2 Development Coordinator VISTA will assist the AKCH2 Director research/implement evidence-based national best practices for the AK Balance of State Continuum of Care; expand the AKCH2 capacity through developing a comprehensive communication plan and funding plan. Activities for this position will include: 

• Research evidence-based, national best practices for CoCs to be able to create a list of recommended changes that would strengthen the CoC and further reduce homelessness in Alaska
• Identify key stakeholders in the strategic plan and create a stakeholder engagement plan that assists AKCH2 staff and board members generate community support for CoC changes
• Develop a communication campaign plan that cultivates community support for AKCH2’s anti-poverty programs
• Develop a comprehensive funding plan
• Assist the Site Supervisor evaluate changes and document the findings to provide the second-year VISTA Member with a record of the first-year accomplishments

Program Benefits :
