About AmeriCorps VISTA:

Year-long AmeriCorps VISTA members serve for a full year and perform indirect service such as resource development and program coordination.  

Service begins on Monday, August 31, 2020 and ends on Monday, August 30, 2021.

About Love In the Name of Christ:

The mission of Love INC is “helping the hungry, homeless, and hurting.” Love INC works to eliminate poverty through several programs: a clearinghouse connecting individual needs to available resources, transportation assistance, and temporary housing assistance for families working towards sustainable housing. Love INC’s anti-poverty programs provide services that connect people with the community resources they require to escape poverty. The VISTA will help Love INC increase their capacity to leverage resources to become more sustainable, so these anti-poverty programs can grow. The VISTA will be responsible for the duties involving communication and promotion of all development activities of Love INC, including individual giving, corporate and foundation support, fundraising events, and grants. This is a volunteer service position with a living allowance of $1,333 per month and an annual education award of $6095 or cash stipend of $1,800.

The VISTA will lay the foundation for the expansion of Love INC’s anti-poverty programs. Activities will include: 

•Develop an annual fundraising schedule of events
•Help organize and conduct fundraising activities
•Assist with grant writing to build financial capacity for anti-poverty programs
•Develop a comprehensive funding plan
•Help recruit volunteers to boost volunteer pool
•Recommend improvements to existing volunteer tracking system or explore the establishment of new tracking system
•Assist in the development of marketing materials and outreach events to reach people experiencing poverty
•Design advertisements for Love INC’s anti-poverty programs
•Create website and social media content that markets Love INC’s anti-poverty programs
•Engage local media to inform the public about Love INC’s anti-poverty programs
•Promote outreach events through marketing material distribution, speaking engagements, radio/television/newspaper interviews and advertisements as appropriate

Program Benefits : 

  • Living allowance of $1,333 per month.
  • End-of-service choice between an education award of $6,095 or cash stipend of $1,800.
