Pollution Prevention Summer Intern Projects- 15 in total

The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program is seeking Junior and Senior Science and Engineering students to lead their own projects focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention with companies in Minnesota.

MnTAP Interns will spend their summer leading projects to learn manufacturing processes, identify opportunities to reduce waste and save the business money, and work on implementation plans as appropriate. MnTAP interns present their results to their company management as well as at the annual MnTAP Intern Symposium in late August. Project summaries are published in MnTAP's annual Solutions publication.

In 2022, 16 MnTAP interns helped their companies achieve annual savings of:

-68 million gallons of water
-6 million kWh of electricity
-556,000 therms of natural gas
-70,000 lbs of chemical inputs
-742,000 lbs of solid waste
-$3 million to their bottom line


This year, MnTAP plans to support up to 15 projects at a variety of industries around the state of Minnesota. Specific project descriptions will be posted on the MnTAP website at http://www.mntap.umn.edu/interns/student/apply/ as they are confirmed in February. Check back frequently as more projects are posted over the course of March.

*Interns will be paid $18/hr plus a project completion stipend of $1,000 (which equates to $20/hr over the course of the project).
