Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Assurance Manager
This individual is responsible for all aspects of Quality within a food packaging manufacturer located in Crawfordsville, IN. This individual is accountable for providing leadership to ensure that all quality systems, procedures, and training activities are consistent with corporate-wide Quality initiatives and objectives to facilitate continuous improvement of manufacturing and service processes.
Job Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Provide leadership, training, and support for direct reports on the quality team as well as plant personnel, supervisors and corporate employees who influence plant operations.
  • Participate in financial forecasting and analysis that will ensure performance targets are met or exceed company expectations.
  • Manage continuous improvement processes and implement plans that result in meeting the facility, corporate, and regulatory agency expectations.
  • Manage capital projects, including writing and completing RFAs.
  • Manage, implement, and train all necessary personnel on safety procedures that meet facility, corporate and regulatory standards, and expectations.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or similar discipline with ten years’ relevant work experience with a minimum of 5 years in management role OR Advanced Degree with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience with a minimum of 3 years in management.
  • Certifications in Quality Engineering from American Society of Quality Control (CQE or CQM), Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) as a Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) or Professional Engineer license (PE).
  • Must have a working knowledge of Statistics, SPC, and Design of Experiments. Statistical software packages such as NFI, Statgraphics, SPSS, and QI Analyst.
  • Must have experience with implementing lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Must be able to train production employees and engineers in advanced statistical methods.
  • Must have experience in ISO9000, third-party audit procedures, and quality system implementation. Prefer experience with Interstate Milk Shippers (IMS) and American Institute of Baking (AIB).
  • Must have experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and FDA regulations as related to food packaging standards.
  • Must have experience in departmental management functions such as staffing levels, personnel development, budgeting, planning, and results from an evaluation.
  • Must be comfortable dealing with customer complaint situations and able to find resolutions that ensure a continued beneficial relationship.
  • Must be familiar with physical inspection processes, tools, equipment and gauging including being able to conduct gauge reproducibility and repeatability studies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively deal with customers, subordinates and other plant personnel key to the success of the department’s goals.
