Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying
state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex
technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s
(DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS), the laboratory develops and deploys innovative
technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national
security challenges.

Currently, SRNL is in a position to host a Dwight D. Eisenhower Post-Doctoral Fellow
to work in the arena of solving complex energy and national defense challenges and is
seeking the most qualified, forward-looking individuals in the field to apply for this
prestigious position.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for
pioneering researchers focused on expanding the boundaries of science and
engineering. SRNL seeks exceptional candidates who must be able to demonstrate
their scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications and advanced research
approaches to complex problems.

Successful candidates will have critical thinking skills, data analysis skills and a
demonstrated ability to explore innovative scientific concepts. Candidates must be
capable of scoping technical tasks and developing creative solutions. Candidates are
also expected to effectively communicate technical results and show potential to
generate novel ideas and convert them into future programs. Successful candidates
will be challenged to reexamine and push the norms, explore the unknown, and create
new discoveries.

Basic Qualifications
(Quantifiable; e.g. Three Years Experience, Bachelors Degree)
Position is open to candidates with PhD degrees (obtained within the last 24 months) in fundamental sciences or engineering. PhD students with expected completion dates within the next 12 months will be considered with documented proof of status from the educational institution.

Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Other Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have demonstrated expertise in their field (e.g., invited presentations, book chapters, awards) and have, at minimum, one first author manuscript published in a highly regarded peer-reviewed journal.
