Research Technician - Epigenetics in Parkinson's
The Labrie Lab, under the direction of Dr. Viviane Labrie, is seeking a Research Technician to be a part of our research team. As a Research Technician, you will be working on a newly funded project focused on infections as triggers of Parkinson's disease. The overall goal of the project is to identify bacterial and viral pathogens that can act as triggers and how they interact (e.g. via epigenetic changes) to cause Parkinson’s disease.
Roles: Laboratory research. Including the ability to accurately adhere to experimental protocols, acquire, and archive data. You will participate in all lab projects and be given the opportunity to contribute as an author to lab publications and pursue promotion.
Desired Skills – in addition to an intense curiosity of biology and human genetics, you must possess the following:
Strong Molecular Biology skills, including:
- nucleic acid isolation
- PCR
- qPCR
- enzymatic reactions
- pipetting
- electrophoresis
- Western blotting
Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Individuals with the following will be highly preferred:
- Scientific writing skills and a publication record
- Experience with neuroscience and/or microbiology and/or virology
- Applicants with flow cytometry experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or higher degree in a biological science and a good understanding of Cellular & Molecular Biology.
- 3-5 years of Research Experience in genetics and/or molecular/cell biology.
