Communications/Events Coordinator Intern

The Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce has an opening for a Communications/Event Coordinator Intern. By working closely with the Executive Director and the members of the chamber, this role will assist in coordinating and executing the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce’s social media strategy, working across key social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
This position is instrumental in increasing our social media presence and gaining visibility for our brand among chamber members and the local community. It will help the Chamber carry out our mission of “helping businesses initiate relationships while serving and promoting the business community in and around Pleasant Hill”.
The key responsibilities will include:
Social Media Management:
·        Assist with streamlining company social media accounts
·        Ensure uniform content
·        Increase number of followers, likes, shares
·        Engage potential members
·        Monitor and respond to online content
·        Draft and schedule eye-catching social media posts
·        Implement social media campaigns
·        Contribute and initiate weekly email blasts
·        Interacting with online audiences to provide helpful customer service and assist in building a loyal online following
·        Track social media analytics
 
Event Management:
·        Assist in ensuring proactive planning, communication and scheduling of a wide variety of events, including the largest event of the year for the chamber, Chill on the Hill
·        Assist in the program content development for the events, solicit sponsors, create promotional materials and sell tickets
·        Participate in program committee meetings including distribution of agenda and taking minutes
·        Set-up, tear-down and help coordination of overall event execution
·        Assist in the general distribution of press releases of media alerts, if applicable
 
Qualifications:
·        General business knowledge
·        Proficient in MS office suite- basic Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint helpful
·        Enrolled in a college program, preferable in the communications, journalism or marketing
Skills:
·        Excellent oral and written communication skills
·        Knowledge of social media platforms
·        Enjoy creating original written media content
·        Detailed oriented
·        Professional presence and demeanor
·        Strong attention to detail
