Engineering Intern - Unpaid

Position Title: Engineering Intern
Department:  Public Works             
Hours:  Unpaid position, academic credit is available, hours dependent on course and credit requirements
Dates: May 26, 2020 – July 31, 2020

** Housing and transportation are not provided**


Essential job functions:
  • The intern will assist with all aspects of the Public Works Department, focusing on Engineering 
  • Assist with building permits
  • Prepare daily reports, including daily progress reports
  • Maintain files and records pertaining to project
  • Provide customer service to the public
  • Assist with public outreach

Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office 2010 and Internet

Learning Goals:
  • Learn the varied duties and job functions of the Public Works Program & how each duty and function assist with City goals. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of managing a variety of Public Works situations simultaneously.
  • Improve business management skills and utilize such skills in the Public Works office environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current student in the Engineering field, or recent graduate in Engineering from an accredited college or university
