Utilities - Water Resources - Intern - Unpaid

Position Title: Water Resources Intern
Department: Utilities
Hours:  Unpaid position, academic credit is available, hours dependent on course and credit requirements
Dates: May 26, 2020 – July 31, 2020

** Housing and transportation are not provided*8


Essential job functions:
  • Work with mentor to set development goals to satisfy college internship requirements
  • Research and complete assigned projects by accessing websites and contacting other municipalities and counties
  • Participate in employee development programs
  • Attend meetings with Water Resources – Environmental Affairs Administrator and Human Resources
  • Acquire knowledge of City departmental functions and knowledge of local, state, and federal water regulations, legislation.
  • Assist with Utilities projects as needed
 
Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics:
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and citizens
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office 2010 and Internet research 

Learning Goals:
  • Knowledge of city government
  • Understand the role of Water Resources - Environmental Affairs Administrator and Human Resources Department
  • Knowledge of process in creating effective water compliance research, and utilities permits.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current college student or recent graduate majoring in Geology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Hydrology, Engineering or related field
