Intern, Strategic Project Development

Internship Overview

This three-month internship will center on Vestas America’s 2020 goals: execute, engage and evolve. Through this experience, you will leverage your commercial and/or technical expertise on strategic department-specific projects. We are looking for self-driven, high-initiative, independent applicants who are passionate about energy. We seek applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and majors, including finance, engineering, computer science, policy, [GM1] environmental science, and others. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and take ownership over project development is key. You will have access to mentorship from one of Vestas Americas’ Vice Presidents, significant exposure to executive management, management by department heads or strategic team leads, and access to exclusive offsite trips.

Responsibilities
  • Scope, pitch, develop, and execute a strategic projects for one of Vestas Americas’ department or team leaders
  • Take initiative in identifying areas for improvement and creating solutions
  • Work effectively in an unstructured environment with multiple departments and manage relevant project stakeholders, interim deadlines, and deliverables throughout project timeline
  • Quantify the impact of your project and create a pitch deck to communicate your findings to executive management
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Masters-level education, graduating by summer 2021
  • Experience working in energy or a strong interest in doing so
  • Outstanding communication skills, oral and written, and interpersonal interaction.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and confidence making progress in a fluid environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues outside of your traditional background
  • Essential behaviors – cooperation, continuous improvement, flexibility, customer focus, active listener, etc.

What we offer
Vestas offers a competitive salary and a housing stipend. This internship will also include funded offsite trips. Strong performance could result in a full-time offer for 2021 employment.

This position is located in Portland, OR. Internship offers both May and June start dates.
