Research Associate II - Multiple Myeloma

Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, a Research Associate II is immediately available in the Dr. Rosen’s Research Laboratory. We will train new personnel in our project-specific techniques and procedures. The candidate must be able to work in a collaborative team environment and participate in data presentation during lab meetings.
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Performs a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory research experiments. Records and validates results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Troubleshoots procedures if experiment results are unexpected or unsatisfactory. Recommends alternative procedures.
  • Responsible for accurately recording work performed including results and methodology. Calculates, compiles and analyzes data obtained from work performed.
  • Independently evaluates research data and initiates alternative approaches to improve the quality of results by providing input to overall research design. Trains lab staff in specialized procedures, equipment and theoretical concepts behind unique tests.
  • May contribute to the preparation of manuscripts by describing methods and specialized techniques. Keeps abreast of new and improved techniques.
  • Ensures that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with each procedure(s) by utilizing safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage and disposal of bio-hazardous, infectious and toxic material. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. 
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or related field
  • A minimum of two years full-time related research/laboratory experience
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Must be proficient with computers running Windows and PC applications (e.g. MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, GraphPad)
  • Priority will be given to candidates with previous experience in cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry, molecular techniques (e.g. Western Blot, RNA extraction, qPCR) and/or mouse handling.
  • Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in lab work as well as accurate record keeping, and lab documentation are a must.
Preferred education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or related field.
